The Chatham County – Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is pleased to announce that the Plan 2040 Chatham County – Savannah Comprehensive Plan has been approved by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and formally adopted by both Chatham County and the City of Savannah.
Plan 2040 covers a wide range of topics for the community including: Economic Development, Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Community Health, Education, Public Safety, Natural Resources and Historic & Cultural Resources. Work now begins on implementing the Plan. The MPC will submit annual progress reports on the status of the Plan implementation to the DCA. DCA requires that all Comprehensive Plans be updated every five years – the next update to the Plan 2040 Chatham County – Savannah Comprehensive Plan is anticipated for 2026.
