Organizations

Student Media includes five organizations: Album 88, NeoN, New South, The Signal and Underground. These groups provide students with opportunities in radio, video, print journalism and literature.

Album 88

Album 88

Album 88 provides student-run programming and broadcasts 24 hours, seven days a week online and on WRAS-HD2 and from 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. on 88.5 FM. Album 88 has been selected by Creative Loafing staff and readers as the best overall radio station in Atlanta on multiple occasions. All Album 88 DJs are Georgia State students, and Georgia State sports are covered by alumni employee Dave Cohen.

Album 88 also hosts "WRASFest" an annual live concert in an Atlanta area concert venue.

Neo Network

Neo Network

Neo Network (NeoN) Neo Network (NeoN), operates as a student-run media network that aims to provide members with training and hands-on experience for those interested in broadcast and filmmaking.

Panther Report, a collection of news reports over the calendar year covering issues and events on campus in Atlanta has transitioned from NeoN to be a part of The Signal. Primetime Sportz, a weekly sports show is also transitioning to be a part of The Signal.

In 2015-16, the station underwent a structural change wherein they developed four production teams to produce four distinct programs of original content. To see these programs, visit the production team’s YouTube page.

New South

New South

New South is Georgia State’s student-edited literary journal. It adheres to the standards of peer-reviewed literature journals across the United States. The organization also stages a number of readings throughout the school year both on and off campus.

The Signal

The Signal

The Signal is the student-run newspaper of Georgia State with additional digital components and covers academic, organizational and sporting events and features student opinion on a variety of national issues. The newspaper is divided into four sections: News, Arts & Living, Sports and Opinions. All readers are welcome to submit letters for consideration in the Opinions section. It features news writing and podcasting from Georgia State students with letters from the campus and city community as well as occasional contributions from campus writers across the country. The Signal has received general excellence honors from the Georgia College Press Association and Southeast Journalism Conference.

Publication
The Signal runs every Tuesday during the fall and spring semesters at Georgia State. It can be found at newsstands across the campuses as well as online.

Underground

Underground

Underground is Georgia State's undergraduate student-edited journal featuring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, essays and art from the community of four-year undergraduate students at Georgia State. In addition to publishing two issues annually, Underground also stages student readings on and off campus. In 2015, it co-sponsored an art competition with Spotlight Programs Board. Underground received an Associated College Press Pacemaker award in 2020.
